"What is an animal film, even?
The ARCVS entry for the 2007 Minneapolis 48-Hour Film Project, "Le Film Animal" is a humorously experimental metatextual deconstruction of the "Animal Film" genre. Beginning with the dissonant dialogue of opposing discourses relating to the genre, social mores ultimately revert to (or reveal) the primitive. The narrative focus then shifts to the tragedy of the Dog-man (Matthew Gangl), the subaltern object interpolated by the manifesting ideological apparatus of early 21st American existence. Winner for "Audience Choice" and "Best Costume Design."
