GermanFarmBoyAn American G.I. (Matthew Gangl) finds himself trapped behind enemy lines in the battle for the Hurtgen forest, one of the bloodiest clashes on the Western Front. Forced to kill an unsuspecting German soldier (Christian Anderson), he comes to know the strange battlefield intimacy of enemies and the dreadfulness that dwells there. Inspired by Erich Maria Remarque's All Quiet on the Western Front, "Hurtgen" competed for the National Scholastic Art and Writing Award in 2002 winning first place in state and Silver Key at the national level.
